Provo Canyon School (PCS) is a psychiatric youth residential treatment center based in Utah. Using evidence-based learning techniques and treatments, Provo Canyon School helps children who struggle academically and behaviorally to improve their overall development and potential for success.

Committed to improving its services, PCS performs annual reviews to assess patient satisfaction and treatment effectiveness. This article draws from its 2016-2017 annual outcome report:
Between June 2016 and May 2017, PCS successfully discharged 341 patients while providing more than 77,000 patient days-of-service. Out of the 341 successfully discharged patients, 337 completed a self-report survey. Here’s what survey results revealed about client satisfaction and overall patient safety:
-Client satisfaction. According to survey reports, 98 percent of students recorded the highest rating for feeling better at discharge as compared to when they were admitted. These numbers foreshadowed PCS’s recognition as a Top 5 RTC among Universal Health Services facilities.
-Client safety. This comprises management of risks or harmful elements and staff vigilance to ensure patient safety. Surveyed students were asked whether they felt safe during their stay. Responses were on a five-point scale, with 5 being the highest “felt safe” score and 1 the lowest. The average score was 4.8, meaning patients felt very safe at PCS.
